Samara Carbone

Researchers and Collaborators

She has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM-2006), a master's degree in Meteorology from the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences (IAG/USP-2008), a PhD in Physics - University of Helsinki (UH-2014) and postdoctoral degree from the Department of Physics at the University of São Paulo, in the area of atmospheric physics and chemistry. She is currently a Professor at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences at the Federal University of Uberlandia. She investigates the chemical and physical properties of atmospheric aerosols, such as: chemical composition, size distribution, sources and optical properties (absorption and scattering). Among the instrumentation used, the Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor (Q-ACSM and ToF-ACSM) and Soot-Particle Aerosol Mass Spectrometer techniques stand out. She also has experience using Positive Mass Factorization (PMF) and Multilinear Engine (ME2) to characterize biogenic and anthropogenic aerosol sources. She has worked on the following topics: ultraviolet radiation and formation of tropospheric and stratospheric ozone.
